The Fort Delaware Society held its 2008 Annual Meeting at the Christiana Hilton Inn on Sunday, February 3rd. The meeting was well attended and ended in time for everyone to get home for Super Bowl XLII (Bears over the Patriots). Officers and Directors of the Society for 2008 were confirmed by election of the members present. See Officers and Directors webpage. Guest speaker, Ed Bonekemper, entertained members with his evaluation of the generalship of Ulysses S. Grant versus Robert E. Lee. A Civil War & Military Historian, Ed has researched, written, and published four books on Civil War generals Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, and George B. McClellan. His most recent entitled "Grant and Lee: Victorious American and Vanquished Virginian" was the basis for his presentation to the Society. Ed is native of Pennsylvania, a retired Federal attorney, and now resides with his wife in Willow Street, Pennsylvania. |
