Society Headquarters, Archives & Library are open to Society members and the general public Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, from October 1st through the end of April with all normal Federal and state holidays observed. During the tourist season, when Fort Delaware State Park is open to the public (the last weekend in April through the last weekend in September), the Society Headquarters, Archives & Library are open by appointment only.

Please call the Society office ahead of time if you plan to visit our Archives & Library and are traveling any distance to get here, or have special scheduling needs of your own.

Questions about (1) ferry scheduling and fees, (2) specific dates when Pea Patch Island and Fort Delaware are open to the public, and (3) living history programs, group tours, and special events should be directed to Fort Delaware State Park at (302) 834-7941. If you plan to travel a significant distance to visit Fort Delaware and Pea Patch Island, it is strongly recommended that you call ahead to verify with the Fort Delaware State Park office that the Park will be open. Questions about access and ferry scheduling between Pea Patch Island and Fort Mott in New Jersey can also be directed to Fort Mott State Park at (856) 935-3218.

Directions

Follow Route 9 past traffic light at Clinton Street in Delaware City towards the Reedy Point Bridge over the C&D Canal. Bear right just past the Branch Canal bridge towards the Grass Dale Center. Take the first left underneath the Reedy Point Bridge approach ramp. Enter Fort DuPont State Park and continue straight ahead along Wilmington Avenue past Sussex Avenue. Turn left on Staff Lane.
