Implementation of the Society's mission to foster awareness of Fort Delaware includes setting up educational displays at events and other appropriate venues organized by other groups at regional sites where visitors from the local communities come to see living history presentations. Events targeted are usually within a two hour drive of Delaware City or Fort Mott where visitors can catch the Three Forts Ferry to Pea Patch Island. The public is made aware of Fort Delaware's various roles in the American Civil War, as well as its long history of being a "Defender of the Delaware" protecting the major Delaware River ports of Wilmington and Philadelphia. The event visitors are encouraged to visit Fort Delaware, Delaware City and Fort DuPont in Delaware, as well as Finns Point National Cemetery and Fort Mott in New Jersey.
