60th ANNIVERSARY ANNUAL LUNCHEON March 7, 2010 The Fort Delaware Society will celebrate its 60th Anniversary at the Annual Luncheon on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Christiana Hilton. Featured Guest Speaker will be David Rickman, Publications/Exhibits Coordinator for the Division of Parks & Recreation. David, a talented artist in his own right, will talk about Max Neugas, a Confederate POW who was imprisoned at Fort Delaware after the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. While there, he made a number of beautiful and detailed sketches of the Fort and of his fellow prisoners. The Boston Athenaeum has one original in its collection, we believe the Delaware Historical Society has another, and the Fort Delaware Society is proud to own six other originals. They are included in our Catalog of Historical Photographs published a few years ago, and reprints may be ordered by calling our office. Invitations to the Luncheon will be mailed to all members by the end of December 2009. Reservations need to be confirmed before February 1, 2010 by mailing in your response card, or by calling Martha Bennett at the Society office. As in years past, you may send in your personal check along with your response card, or pay at the door.
